Glenisk yogurt back on the shelves nationwide tomorrow

Four months on from a devastating fire that completely gutted the Glenisk plant in Killeigh, the iconic Glenisk organic yogurt brand will once again be back on the shelves in retail outlets nationwide tomorrow morning (Tuesday) following a resumption of yougurt production at the dairy manufacturing facility this morning.

The news was confirmed this lunchtime on the RTE Radio 1 news by Managing Director, Vincent Cleary, who said it was "the start of the comeback" to completely rebuild the award-winning business.

Describing the combined effort to ensure the resumption of yogurt making at the Killeigh facility as "a sprint," Mr. Cleary said and that staff had been working "every weekend" since the plant was destroyed by fire on September 27 last,. and that the company had got " great support both locally and nationally" and were put on the top of "a lot of waiting lists" when it came to sourcing materials and labour to rebuild a temporary yogurt production facility at their base in Newtown, on the outskirts of Killeigh village.

He added that Glenisk had "achieved the impossible" in managing to resume yogurt production just four months after the fire, and he confirmed that the Glenisk yogurt range would be "back on the shelves nationwide" tomorrow morning.

It is understood that the two biggest-selling yogurts in the Glenisk range - their whole milk natural yoghurt and Greek-style natural yoghurt - will be available from tomorrow, with additional flavoured yogurts becoming available over the next few weeks.

When asked if he was concerned about "losing market share" given that Glenisk yogurt has been absent from supermarket shelves since last September, Vincent Cleary said he would not be "overly concerned" about this aspect of the business and predicted that the market share issue would "resolve itself over time."
