Trucks set to travel to Ukraine with supplies

A number of trucks will travel from Offaly to Ukraine to provide much needed supplies after St Patrick's weekend.

Condron Concrete, Tullamore, Jennings Truck Centre and Ravenhill Transport, Clara are providing both trucks and drivers to bring food and medical supplies to the Ukrainian border as part of a major local community initiative.

There will be two people in each lorry.

Organisers are seeking essential items such as baby wipes, water, canned foods, sleeping bags, bandages, pasta rice, porridge, blankets

Those wishing to make a contribution are invited to bring their goods to the rugby club in Tullamore on next Friday, Saturday and Sunday next March 11, 12, 13 from 10am to 4pm.

Paddy Galvin from Tullamore Rugby Club says that they are looking for essential items and non-perishable foods to bring to Ukraine..

"We were lucky to get support from a couple of businesses in the town. It's a worthy cause and we are planning to operate three trucks."

Shops and other businesses are welcome to donate to the appeal for Ukraine and the collection point is at Tullamore Rugby Club.
