Offaly consigned to Tailteann Cup

Offaly dropped out of the All-Ireland and Leinster Football Championships today with a disappointing defeat in Wexford.

A poor first half with the benefit of the wind left Offaly only a point up at the interval (0-6 to 0-5) and although they battled well against the breeze, Wexford prevailed in the end by three points (1-15 to 1-12).

A Lee Pearson goal after the restart gave Offaly renewed second half hope, but a Ben Brosnan goal midway through the half put the eventual winners five points up.

Offaly with now enter the Tailteann Cup.
