Offaly Hospice shop set to open in new location

In a clear signal of its ambitious plans for the future of hospice care in the Midlands, the Offaly Hospice shop will open its doors to the public for the first time at its brand new location on Main Street at 11am on Friday (May 6).

Located in the former Petworld premises, the new 3,000 sq ft shop is twice the size of the former premises on Offaly street, making space for a lot more stock and lots more bargains.

As part of the re-location process, the offices of Offaly Hospice has also moved to Main Street and will open to the public from Monday to Friday from 10am until 1.30pm. Meanwhile, the shop will open six days per week, Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 4pm each day.

All profits from the shop go directly to the Midland Hospice Building Fund which was set up in 2019 by Offaly Hospice Foundation to raise funds to build a much-needed Hospice Unit for the people of the Midlands.

Over the past number of weeks, the Offaly Hospice shop has been running a half-price relocation sale at their old premises which was such a success that it has enabled them to stock an entirely different and more up to date range in all departments at their new shop.

Offaly Hospice is deeply indebted to its army of volunteers, numbering over 30, who work tirelessly every week to ensure the smooth running of the Hospice shop, and have also helped the charity to move to its new premises.

They are also deeply indebted to a number of staff from Cardinal Health, Tullamore who have spent the past week painting the new Hospice shop on Main street. Among those who worked as volunteers on the painting job were Marty Lynch, Mick Fletcher, Pat Burke, Cian Byrne Pratt and Brendan O’Brien.

The charity has also expressed its thanks to Fiona Perdisatt and Kevin Byrne, also from Cardinal Health, for their on-going support and for bringing the Cardinal Health painting team together. Offaly Hospice are looking forward to building a partnership with Cardinal Health in the future where their employees can get involved, contribute and support Offaly Hospice.

Volunteers at the new Offaly Hospice shop are looking forward to building strong links with the local community, with the end goal of all monies raised being the long-awaited construction of a new Hospice for the Midlands.
