Neylons Academy for Growth hold ceremony for management graduates

Neylons Facility Management recently hosted a special ceremony in Galway for 13 graduates of its Academy for Growth.

Gary McGann, Chairman of Flutter Plc and former Group CEO of Smurfit Kappa was the guest speaker at the award ceremony which was attended by family and friends of the graduates.

Neylons established the Academy for Growth in 2014 so it could invest in its staff development and promote people from within the company to management roles. It has since become a key mechanism to tackle the talent shortage experienced by so many firms across Ireland.

The 13 graduates are currently working in a variety of roles at sites managed by Neylons in Dublin, Cork, Ennis and Tullamore. Roles range from a general operative in a healthcare setting to a site manager at a residential home to a working supervisor at an industrial plant. In the last year, the participants studied 18 modules and learned operational skills such as project planning and budgeting as well as soft skills like performance and behavioural management.

Speaking at the ceremony, Anca Cioloca, Training and Infection Control Manager, said “I would like to congratulate all the graduates on their hard work, commitment and loyalty. They have an abundance of talent and bright futures ahead. I look forward to seeing how they apply their new knowledge and skills as they deliver the best service at our customer sites and realise their potential."

Sandra Ribner, Quality and Control Manager and co-facilitator of the Academy for Growth, said “Through the Academy for Growth we are developing a culture of first-time success. Our staff are trained and accredited to the highest standards in order to deliver quality customer service, sustain current business and build for the future. It is so rewarding to see how we are helping staff thrive and seize opportunities that may have previously been out of their reach.”

Graduates of the academy typically go on to a management role within Neylons. Since the Academy for Growth was established, over 100 staff has participated in the programme.

At the ceremony, the company announced it is now establishing an Executive Academy to support senior managers who wish to be considered for a directorship role. The first Neylons Executive Academy will commence in September 2022.
