Council views progress on Esker Arts Centre

At one of his final engagements as Cathaoirleach of Offaly County Council, Cllr Declan Harvey along with Sharon Kennedy, Director of Services, Offaly County Council met with Desmond Doyle, Tullamore Community Arts Centre Ltd to view the progress of the Esker Arts Centre.

The centre is the culmination of many years of work by Offaly County Council, Tullamore Community Arts Centre CLG and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media. Cllr Harvey welcomed the progress shown and outlined: “I have been involved in this project since its initial discussion and now I am delighted to advise this project is near completion.:

He added further updates will be issued in autumn.

Desmond Doyle, Chairman of Tullamore Community Arts Centre Ltd (TCAC) said the centre will “deliver on the many community arts programmes as originally envisaged by TCAC”.

Ms Kennedy commented: “The ambitions of the board and of the various funding bodies behind this project are very high. All are determined that Esker Arts will operate at levels of excellence that will see it ranked among the country’s foremost artistic and cultural centres. The council and Esker Arts Board looks forward to sharing further updates via our social media platforms in the latter part of this year.”
