Win a signed copy of U2's iconic 'The Unforgettable Fire' album
U2 fans in the Midlands, and across the country, have a unique opportunity to get their hands on a signed copy of one of the band's most iconic studio albums "The Unforgettable Fire" in a once-in-a-lifetime raffle being organised by a resident's association in Athlone.
The unique fundraising event is being organised by the Blyry Moydrum Resident's Association, who have a strong local connection with the iconic studio LP recorded by U2, as the local Castle in Moydrum features on the cover of the album.
However, the lucky winner of the Blyry Moydrum raffle will get their hands on the 2009 25th anniversary edition of 'The Unforgettable Fire' vinyl LP, signed by Bono, which also includes a 16-page booklet with stunning images of the worldwide rock superstars.
The amazing prize can be won by purchasing a ticket, priced at just €10, on the idonate page set up by the local Residents Association, or from any member of the residents committee.
All monies raised from the raffle will go towards the second phase of the Moydrum path development project, which will ensure better road safety for the residents living in the local area.
Blyry Moydrum Residents Association represents residents in the area of Blyry, Moydrum, Tullycross and Annagorthagh areas of Athlone. They have begun a project to provide a pedestrian footpath along the road through Moydrum which will benefit residents and employees of local businesses and the surrounding areas.
The first step in the project involved securing funding under the community involvement scheme towards construction of the first phase, 650m of path, which was completed earlier this year.
The raffle for the U2 album is to raise funds for Phase 2 of the footpath project, for which the group has to raise a total of €12,000 as part of their voluntary contribution.
All funds raised from the U2 raffle will go directly to the Blyry Moydrum Residents Association and will be used exclusively to fund the cost of Phase 2 of the footpath in the local area.
