Local actor lights up the stage at Galway International Arts Festival
Tullamore actor Darragh O'Toole who viewers may recognise from his recurring role in 'Red Rock' recently made his theatre debut at the Galway International Arts Festival.
The young actor took to the stage at this years Galway International Arts Festival and played the role of Lampy in the world premiere stage adaptation of Donal Ryan's critically acclaimed Booker Prize Nominated Novel 'From A Low & Quiet Sea.'
Darragh has appeared in a host of major shows across various streaming platforms such as Apple TV's 'Foundation', BBC/HBO's 'Peaky Blinders' and the soon to be released second season of Amazon's 'Wheel of Time.'
Darragh's character, 'Lampy' is a 23 year-old, living at home with his mother & grandfather in small town Ireland. He works at a nursing home cleaning, changing sheets and sometimes driving the bus. He's recently broke up with his girlfriend Chloe and feels trapped in a life he didn't plan. The play ran for two weeks at the Galway International Arts Festival with a total cast of four including Lorcan Cranitch playing John, Maeve Fitzgerald playing Florence and Aosaf Afzul in the role of Farouk.
The production was directed by Decadent Theatre's Andrew Flynn. It was warmly received by the Irish Independent, Irish Times and Guardian UK along with audiences. The company hopes to tour the production around Ireland and perhaps beyond in 2023.
