Reunion of 1979 and 1980 Birr school teams

A reunion of the Presentation College Birr hurling teams from 1979 and 1980, who both won Leinster titles and reached All Ireland Finals took place recently.

The 1979 team was captained by Joe Verney and 1980 team by Paddy Corrigan.

The 1979 team was defeated by St Flannan's of Clare, and 1980 team were beaten by North Mon who had two future Cork stars on board in Tony O'Sullivan and Tomás Mulcahy.

However, from the Birr sides Ken Hogan with Tipperary, and Paddy Corrigan, Joe Dooley and Pat O'Connor with Offaly all went on to win All Ireland medals.
