TD makes history as first baby enters the Dáil chamber

Yesterday was a historic day in the Dáil as Tullamore native and Clare TD Violet-Anne Wynne brought her new baby into the chamber.

The Ceann Comhairle Seán Ó Fearghaíl said that seven-month-old Collins was the first 'actual' baby to have been in the Dáil.

The TD and baby Collins received a round of applause from the chamber befire the weekly block votes were taken.

Deputy Wynne commented on Twitter following the historic event saying: "My sincere thanks to the Ceann Comhairle and to all the TDs who made Collins feel so welcome at last night's vote."

Deputy Wynne who left Sinn Féin earlier this year, citing a lack of support at local party level, gave birth to her baby daughter in January.
