Tullamore café reintroduces Pay With Post-it scheme

The Square Café in Tullamore have brought back their Pay With Post-It scheme in which customers can purchase a coffee in advance for someone else.

The cafe announced that the scheme was returning on their Facebook page recently saying: “We have decided to bring back our Pay With Post-it board. We started this over Covid and it was a huge success. So many people bought and left a post-it on our board for someone else to use when they needed a free coffee or a simple pick me up.”

The cafe has also been struggling with the cost of living crisis and added: “It's getting tough for us all out there, prices are going up we have unfortunately had to raise some of our prices over the last few weeks to try offset our rising supplier and energy costs but we will always do what we can to help anyone who needs it. We have started off the board and paid for the first few post-it's so if you have a little extra cash to spare and want to help please buy a coffee and add your note to the board.”

Owner of the cafe, Kieran Conroy, explained: “Basically we decided to bring (the scheme) back due to the economic situation we are in and the cost of living. We are all facing rising costs so its just a way to look after people like we did when we ran it during Covid.”

Mr Conroy said the reaction to the scheme's return has been very positive. "A lot of people over the weekend donated to the board and we also had a few to use it."

If you would like to add a post-it to the board all you have to do is pay for a tea or coffee at the till and write a note and add it to the board. Anyone who wishes to redeem a free tea or coffee can simply pick a post-it off the board and hand it to a member of staff.
