Belmont girl cuts hair and raises €1800 for charity

Anna Murphy from Belmont (10) recently cut her hair as part of the Locks of Love for LauraLynn fundraiser and has raised a whopping €1,800 to date.

According to Anna's mother, Serina Murphy, Anna decided to particiapte in Locks of Love for LauraLynn as she wanted to give back and cut her hair for charity. "Anna decided to cut her beautiful long hair for the LauraLynn Locks of Love charity in order to help other children and decided on cutting it for Christmas in memory of her baby brother James who was born at Christmas 2016."

Serina added: “Everyone was very kind and generous. Even people we didn't know were sponsoring her.”

Anna's aunt Mags cut her hair on Thursday, December 1 and Anna donated 15 inches of her hair to The Little Princess Trust in England. She then celebrated her achievement with a trip to Eddie Rockets with her brother Eoin and sister Aila. The money raised will go towards LauraLynn Ireland's Children's Hospice.

Anna is a fourth class student at St Saran's NS in High Street, Belmont.

Anna's family decided to extend the deadline for donations to the fundraiser when people started asking them to leave the donation page up for longer.
