Offaly GAA's operations manager set to begin new role

Offaly GAA recently announced the appointment of a new Operations Manager, and he will commence work in the role next week.

Announcing the appointment of Damien Coleman, Offaly GAA described the Portumna man as “a hugely respected figure in the GAA”.

Coleman has worked with Connacht GAA as a Sports Development Manager (Provincial Hurling Director), and as Galway Games Manager.

Internationally, Coleman has contributed to the expansion of coaching and games development structures in New York for over a decade.

Damien recently successfully completed a Master’s Degree in Sport Management at University College Dublin. As part of the degree, he studied such subject areas as leadership and people management; strategy and operations; sports marketing; governance and law; event management and sustainability; and high performance management.

A member of Portumna GAA in Galway, Damien served as club chairman and coaching officer of the club over a 12-year period, while he also played hurling for his club and county at all age grades.
