Throwback Thursday: 125 years combined service with ESB

After many loyal years service to the ESB three long-serving members received presentations at a recent function in the Royal Hotel, Athlone, to mark their retirement. Their wives also were made presentations. The three men, Patrick Meyers (Athlone), Thomas LaCumber (Tullamore), and Johnny Curran (Athlone), had between them about 125 years service. Indeed Paddy Meyers and Tom LaCumbre .were together with Siemens even before the formation of the ESB.

Mr. William Menton, on behalf of the Social Club, organisers of the function, welcomed, the guests who included Mr JJ Kelly, Chief Executive, and Mr M Shiel, Director Commercial and Mrs Shiel.

Mr TP Haugh, District Manager, Athlone, paid tribute to the three men for their faithful service and thanked Mr Shiel for coming to Athlone for the occasion.

Mr Kelly, on behalf of the ESB, sincerely thanked the three men for their long and faithful years of service. He said he considered it a great honour being asked to make the presentations.

The Benevolent Committee made presentations to other recently retired pensioners, and their wives, who were present.
