Appeal after serious local road traffic accident

A man in his 80s is understood to be in a serious condition following a serious road traffic collision in Offaly yesterday.

Gardaí in Tullamore are appealing for witnesses following the road traffic accident.

Shortly after 3pm, Gardaí and Emergency Services were alerted to a collision involving a car and a minibus on the N80 between Tullamore and Derryclure.

The driver of the car, a man in his 80s, was taken from the scene by Ambulance to Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore. The occupants of the minibus did not require hospital treatment.

A technical examination of the scene has been completed and the N80 Road reopened to traffic yesterday evening after being closed for approximately five hours.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.

They are also appealing to those with camera footage (including motorists with dash cam) from the N80 between Tullamore and Derryclure at the time of the collision, to make it available to them.
