Irish favourites Hothouse Flowers will play the Night and Day Festival in Boyle, Co Roscommon in June.

First line-up announced for major Roscommon festival

Night and Day, Roscommon's new music festival, has announced its first line-up of acts taking part at this year’s event in Lough Key, and it includes some big, big names.

Festival headliners include American indie-Rock band Mercury Rev, alternative singer-songwriter Anna Calvi who wrote the score for season five of TV series Peaky Blinders, and renowned Irish band Hothouse Flowers.

The festival continues to put a strong focus on Irish talent, with Pillow Queens, Wallis Bird and Emma Langford also announced as part of the line-up for the event on June 24 and 25 in Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle.

The festival is a strictly over-20s event, but under-12s can enter for free when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Speaking about the announcement of the first headliners, festival director Brendan Hurley said: “We’re excited to be joined by such a wealth of exciting talent across this year’s line-up. Night and Day is a festival for a wide range of festivalgoers, who want to see quality great acts in a beautiful setting.

"When we set up the festival last year we wanted our attendees to experience a fun, memorable event in a relaxed environment that caters seamlessly to individuals and families alike.

"After a successful first event, we can’t wait to welcome everyone down to the beautiful grounds of Lough Key Forest Park which is tailor-made for a family-friendly festival given the existing campsite and activities for festival goers,” he explained.

A wide range of family-focused activities, political debates, and many more musical acts will be announced in the coming weeks.
