Two local charities benefit from 'Christmas Unwrapped' concert

The proceeds from a sell-out Christmas concert in Tullamore's Church of the Assumption were presented to two local charities last week by members of Tullamore Stage School.

The beneficiaries from the hugely-successful 'Christmas Unwrapped' event which was staged by Tullamore Stage School on December 20 last were Offaly Domestic Violence Support Services and Tullamore Parish Support Services.

The cheques were presented to Nikita Barnwell, on behalf of Offaly Domestic Violence Support Services, and Mary McDowell, on behalf of Tullamore Parish Support Services.

As well as featuring members of the Tullamore Stage School Youth Choir, last month's 'Christmas Unwrapped' concert also featured the school's Chamber Orchestra along with the newly-formed Ladies Choir who were making only their second public appearance since their formation last September. The Choir has been a hugely successful endeavour and currently has 70 members.

Tullamore Stage School was founded by local music teacher and former musical director of the multi-award winning Tullamore Sacred Heart School Choir, Regina McCarthy.
