Two garda stations to reopen in Offaly
Two formerly used garda stations in Offaly will reopen with limited opening hours.
Speaking about the news, Cllr McDermott said: “I welcome the news that both Rhode and Daingean Garda stations will reopen. The stations will have limited opening hours but it is a positive move in the right direction. It also reflects the growing population of North Offaly as was shown in the last Census.”
According to the Fianna Fáil councillor, the reaction to the news in Offaly has been “very positive” and will alleviate some of the pressure on Edenderry garda station as many people from Rhode and Daingean go to the station to get forms signed.
Cllr McDermott has requested a meeting with the Superintendent to discuss this and the possibility of increasing Garda numbers in the Edenderry station.
