Success on the double for Tullamore Stage School Choir in Arklow

Tullamore Stage School's Youth Choir enjoyed great success at the Arklow Music Festival over the weekend, winning both the Unison and Two part competitions.

Under Musical Director Regina McCarthy and accompanied by Loreta Mackelaite, the choir, ranging in age from eight years to 14, presented a programme which included 'A Clare Benediction' by John Rutter, 'Bruce and the Spider' by Gawthorne, ''For the Beauty of the Earth' by John Rutter and 'Puttin' on the Ritz' by Irving Berlin.

Adjudicator Anne Marie O'Sullivan praised this young ensemble's diction, phrasing and musicality. She was highly impressed with their discipline from the moment they walked on the stage, to their professionalism while on the stage.

The choir are now preparing for Feis Ceoil which will be held in the RDS later in the month.
