Four Offaly students awarded Bord na Móna Scholarships
Four students from Offaly were among a group of ten recipients of scholarships under the Bord na Móna’s ‘Pathways to the Future’ programme at the company's headquarters in Newbridge recently.
The four are Shane Ryan, studying for a Doctoral Degree in Science and Health at Carlow IT, Jane Lowry, studying for a BA in Early Childhood Care & Education at TUS, Alan Slattery, studying for an MSc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Galway, and Diarmuid Egan, studying for a BSc in Applied Computational Mathematics in UCD.
Bord na Móna launched its ‘Pathways to the Future’ programme as it strives to create a future everyone can look forward to, with a focus on identifying and supporting ambitious students who share the same vision and passion for a climate neutral Ireland.
The ‘Pathways to the Future’ programme consists of three different pathways: a Scholarship Pathway, a Graduate Pathway, and an Apprenticeship Pathway, each offering different choices, educational support and career development opportunities to a broad range of people. All three of the pathways provide opportunities to work on the front line of climate action and sustainable economic development.
The Bord na Móna Scholarship Pathway is offering the ten successful applicants financial support for access to studies through scholarships. The scholarship includes a monetary grant, future work placement opportunity, site visits to Bord na Móna projects and a Bord na Móna assigned mentor, with eligible candidates needing to be enrolled in undergraduate studies (level 8), masters or doctoral studies.

I am delighted that we have now awarded the first ten scholarships as part of the Scholarship Pathway and I look forward to seeing what these students will achieve over the course of their studies.
