Lego League win for Clara school

Congratulations to the fifth class students from Scoil Phroinsiais Naofa and their teachers Mr. Ward and Mr. Kenny, who won the Core Values Award at the First Lego League regional finals held in Galway recently.

The First Lego League is a competition which challenges young students to design, build, and programme robots using Lego. It encourages teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills, as well as promoting an interest in STEM subjects.

The theme of this year’s First Lego League challenge is "Superpowered" and as part of the competition, the Scoil Phroinsiais Naofa team had to come up with a brand new way of saving and improving the transfer of energy.

With his unique concept design, a student called Dean Bracken wowed the judges and explained how his innovation project could be used worldwide to reduce energy consumption.

Up against stiff competition from primary and secondary schools from across the country, the boys emerged victorious in the Core Values section. The Core Values award is presented to the team that best demonstrates evidence of good teamwork.

This is Scoil Phroinsias Naofa second First Lego League Award to win in the past two years and is due recognition of their dedication to promote coding and STEM activities throughout their school.
