Family Carers Ireland and Royal London Ireland partner to provide support for family carers

Family Carers Ireland, the national charity supporting Ireland’s 500,000+ family carers, has been selected as the national charity partner of Royal London Ireland, the key life insurance, and pensions provider in Ireland.

The partnership will help Family Carers Ireland to provide support, information and training to family carers across Ireland who provide care at home for loved ones such as children or adults with additional needs, physical or intellectual disabilities, frail older people, those with palliative care needs or those living with chronic illnesses, mental health challenges or addiction. The funding from Royal London Ireland will be used to enhance the charity's existing services and to develop new initiatives that will further benefit family carers.

Head of Communications and Policy with Family Carers Ireland, Catherine Cox, said: "We are delighted to have been chosen as Royal London Ireland's charity partner. The funding and support that we will receive will enable us to make a real difference in the lives of family carers across Ireland who go above and beyond every day by providing remarkable levels of care in the home. We are extremely grateful to Royal London Ireland for this much needed support and recognition of the work of family carers. As a society, we must ensure that family carers are properly supported and recognised.”

As part of the partnership, Royal London Ireland employees will have the opportunity to volunteer, mentor family carers and support Family Carers Ireland through various fundraising initiatives and activities.

CEO of Royal London Ireland, Noel Freeley, said: "Royal London Ireland is a purpose-driven business and this defines the impact we want to have on our customers, their families and their communities. Through our social impact commitments, products and services, we are already helping customers to prevent life shocks from becoming a crisis and supporting them through difficult times. But we want to reach more people who need help and make a longer lasting impact and we believe our partnership with Family Carers Ireland is key to achieving this.

“We are proud to partner with Family Carers Ireland and support the incredible work they do in providing practical help and emotional support to family carers. Those who care for their loved ones carry an exceptional weight of responsibility and I look forward to seeing our team come together to help them. We are excited to get involved and make a positive impact."
