Tullamore native writes book on the art of horror filmmaking
Tullamore native and film director Seán Breathnach has released a new book on the art of horror filmmaking.
The book, "The Art of Making Horror Films", is a short guide to the art of horror filmmaking, and is based on Sun Tzu's famous treatise, "The Art of War."
Seán released the horror feature film "Beyond the Woods" in 2018 to critical acclaim. He also runs the popular YouTube channel "IrishHorror.com" where many of his short films are available to view, including short films supported by the wonderful people at Offaly Arts. Seán is currently developing feature films and has a TV series in development with partners Silver Mountain Productions and Zanzibar Films.
Seán says: "I decided to write this book to inspire other horror film makers. I was listening to a podcast one day and the podcaster talked about using ancient texts as an inspiration to write a book about a subject. That was the eureka moment! I thought to myself, I'm going to use this advice to write a book on horror filmmaking."
Drawing from his extensive experience, Seán provides valuable insights and practical advice on various aspects of horror filmmaking, such as scriptwriting, casting, directing, cinematography, and post-production. He also delves into the psychology of fear and how to create a truly terrifying horror film.
In "The Art of Making Horror Films," Seán applies the principles of Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" to the filmmaking process. He shows how the tactics and strategies employed by Sun Tzu in ancient warfare can be applied to modern-day horror filmmaking, to gain a competitive edge and produce a truly unforgettable horror film.
"The Art of Making Horror Films" is a must-read for horror film enthusiasts, aspiring filmmakers, and anyone interested in the art of filmmaking. It is available now on Apple books, Amazon, Smashwords and a host of select bookstores. You can read the ebook for free at most of the stores listed here: https://books2read.com/b/mgPBj6.
