Significant increase in prize money at Kilbeggan Races Summer meeting

The traditional Summer May meeting at Kilbeggan Racecourse, which takes place this year on Friday week, May 12, is always a great social occasion for groups, families and children to come together, with the added possibility of backing a few winners over the jumps.

There will be seven races on the card in Kilbeggan next week and six new sponsored races, with two new feature races, which will make it a very interesting and exciting race meeting.

Kilbeggan Race Committee are delighted to welcome William Hill, one of the leading UK and International bookmakers to sponsor four races, including a new feature race at thew May 12 meeting - The William Hill Extra Places Daily Handicap Steeplechase of €30,000.

Alan and Deirdre Wright who are currently developing Ireland’s largest independent whiskey filling and maturation facility in Moyvore, are sponsoring a new feature race, the Moyvore Whiskey Vault Handicap Hurdle of €30,000, while Kevin and Eamon Cooke of Caragh, County Kildare are sponsoring the Cooke’s Bar and Restaurant Caragh Beginners Steeplechase.

Paddy Dunican Managing Director said: “we are delighted to welcome three new companies coming on board to sponsor six races at our Summer Friday Evening Race Meeting, in particular two new feature races valued at €30,000 each. The significant increase in prize money on offer will attract better quality horses and create more competitive and exciting racing for our fans”.

General admission is €15 and there are a number of attractive discount packages available, including a reduction of €3 on the price of each ticket for groups of ten or more people.

In addition, the organisers of next week's events at Kilbeggan Racecourse are offering racing fans a discounted Summer Party Pack from €23 per person, which includes admission ticket + 2 x €5 food/drink vouchers and free race cards for groups of ten people or more.
