Offaly motorists more likely to have penalty points than any other county

According to figures released from the Road Safety Authority (RSA), motorists in County Offaly are more likely to have penalty points on their driver's licence than motorists in any other county.

As of April 2023, 10,928 Offaly motorists have penalty points on their licence. Since the RSA report that there are 55,855 licence holders in Offaly, that means the percentage of motorists with penalty points stands at 19.6%, just shy of one-fifth of all drivers. The county with the second-highest penalty points percentage is Wicklow, at 18.4%.

According to figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), speeding is the most common offence in Offaly, followed by driving with a mobile phone in hand.
