A Tullamore teacher has won the prestigious Teacher of the Year Award.

Catherine McAuliffe, a 6th Class teacher from St. Philomena’s National School, Tullamore triumphed at the recent Our World Irish Aid Awards.

The announcement was made at an event at O’Reilly Hall, UCD which saw pupils and teachers from 13 schools across the country gathered to celebrate their collective success at a ceremony hosted by Clara Murray.

The project submitted by Catherine’s 6th Class pupils, along with those created by the 12 other finalists, features on a host of bus shelters across the country, as well as in a special online exhibition on the Our World Irish Aid Awards website http://www.ourworldirishaidawards.ie/
