A Fresh Start at Tullamore National Learning Network

Meet current students Kira and Anita who are both attending the Fresh Start Programme in National Learning Network Tullamore.

Anita who has been on the programme since September 2022 is currently on a work placement with Flynns Bakery in Tullamore. “Since starting the programme, I am feeling so much more confident, I have made new friends and have gotten so much support from both the staff and my fellow students in dealing with my anxiety. I'm looking forward to gaining my QQI Level 4 Award and going on to employment when I complete the Fresh Start course”

Kira came to NLN straight after school and needed extra support with confidence and developing her social skills before going to third level education. Kira, who is a fantastic artist and is currently creating amazing wall art in the canteen, is on her work placement with Power For Good.

“I came to NLN as I needed support with social skills and anxiety. I have just completed my Workplace Safety Module and looking forward to starting Personal and Interpersonal Development. My goal when I complete my training is to progress to Moate College to study Art & Design”.

At NLN, they pride themselves in helping people aged 16+ with social anxiety, autism and mental health challenges to get an education, build confidence and fulfil their career goals in a supported environment.

The training centre is located in the heart of Tullamore. It boasts a large outdoor polytunnell and extensive garden area which complement the comfortable, supported, well-resourced training rooms. Instructors are experienced, and experts in providing specialist training to people who require extra supports.

NLN works closely with the local community and has built a network of business and industry partners, including many local employers who offer students the opportunity to gain on-the-job training and in-work placements. Courses run all year round on a continuous basis intake.
