Cowen requests meeting with local Supt on policing issues

Local Fianna Fáil TD Barry Cowen has written to Superintendent James Lawless of Tullamore Garda Station requesting a meeting to discuss policing issues within the town.

Deputy Cowen's request follows an informal meeting between local businesses and members of An Garda Síochána in which the businesses voiced their concerns pertaining to policing issues and available resources in Tullamore town.

"It was recently brought to my attention by local Fianna Fáil Cllrs. Declan Harvey and Tony McCormack of an informal meeting between the business community and members of An Garda Siochana in relation to ongoing concerns with policing issues in Tullamore," Deputy Cowen said.

"On foot of this meeting, I have written to Superintendent James Lawless of Tullamore Garda Station to request an opportunity to discuss the concerns raised and I will also be raising the matter directly with the Minister for Justice.''

Deputy Cowen concluded by saying that he will provide an update to businesses as soon as possible.
