Authors to visit Offaly libraries during upcoming Children's Book Festival

Offaly Libraries has announced details of visits by authors, illustrators and others as part of its celebration of Children's Book Festival 2023 next month.

The festival takes place nationally in October and is designed as a celebration of books and reading, involving young people, parents, teachers and libraries.

Offaly Libraries has planned an array of events and activities for the festival, and these are co-funded by Creative Ireland.

School Zoom events will feature author Éanna Ni Lamhna, who will also visit Tullamore and Clara libraries.

Authors Gerry Daly and Shane Hegarty will visit Edenderry, Tullamore and Birr libraries to chat to primary school students.

Leona McDonnell will facilitate mindfulness workshops in Clara and Daingean libraries, and Simone Schuemmelfeder (Storygate) will visit Birr, Clara and Ferbane libraries with her puppetry and storytelling session.

In addition, illustrator Shannon Bergin will facilitate workshops in Birr, Banagher and Kilcormac libraries.

Arts and crafts / story time sessions will take place in all libraries, and people can contact their local library to book a place.

Full details of all our events are available here or you can contact your local library to book any event of your choosing.

The new Children's Books Ireland reading guide will also be available for free to collect from your local library.
