Tullamore-based engineering firm to double in size

A Tullamore-based electrical engineering firm who have worked on projects in places like Toronto, Nebraska, all over the UK as well as Poland, Mexico Dubai and Ghana among others is doubling in size.

Energy Systems Design Ltd has expertise in industrial electrical system design and a significant portfolio in high-voltage work and generation connection systems as well as earthing consultancy and specialist calculations.

Within the last five years, they have provided industrial electrical engineering design services to projects in locations as varied as Nebraska, Illinois, Ohio, Toronto, the UK, Spain, France, Poland, Mexico, Ukraine, Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Ghana – as well as Ireland of course, where they count major industrial sites and one of the largest waste-water treatment plants in the European Union, among their repeat clients.

2023 will see the ESD team of Engineers double in size and this expansion aligns with a vision that specialist technical expertise will become increasingly vital as Ireland embarks on a transformative shift in how electrical power is generated, distributed and used.

This transformation mirrors ongoing developments throughout Europe and the world, with even more expected in the future.

The latest addition to the Team, Ali Sedighi Anaraki, brings a wealth of high voltage experience up to 275kV, as well as extensive experience in gas turbine generator installations, garnered over his 24-year career.

Colin McDonnell of ESD said: “It is terrific to have an engineer of Ali’s calibre join the team. This is part of our drive to solidify our position as electrical design engineers in high voltage substations and generator connections, building on our existing project portfolio and capacity.

"This is a really exciting time to be involved in our sector and we are making the investments in our people and technology to be a part of it.

Our country and society are making ambitious plans that can only be realised through substantial innovation, design, and investment in electrical systems. As a team, we want to continue to be at the heart of this, helping to make it a reality," he commented.

He continued: "We are still working in our specialist design areas like Earthing System Modelling for a major solar farm development switchgear solutions, specialist calculations, electronic drive integration and equipment compliance, but we see tremendous potential for expansion in the high-voltage and generator segments of our business and we want to keep the momentum of our expansion over the last few years driving forward”.

Founded in Tullamore in 2003, the company carries out work in the areas of industrial electrical design, electrical switchgear, equipment compliance, earthing consultancy, high voltage systems and generator connections.
