Queen of the Land Festival to take place in Birr next month
The Queen of the Land festival will take place in the County Arms Hotel in Birr from November 10 to November 12.
The organising committee is delighted to welcome 26 contestants to the festival, as it celebrates its 59th year. It is encouraging to see the large number of entries from all over the country. J Grennan & Sons is the festival's new sponsor who has worked actively with the festival team to organise and support the great event. Their experience and involvement in community events has proven invaluable.
The judges of this year’s contest are Rose of Tralee winner Maria Walsh, Queen of the Land winner, Rachel McNamara, former Marca President Sean Finan and Kieran Corrigan, Main sponsor Judge on behalf of Grennans.
This year's 59th Queen of the Land Festival will take place in Birr for the first time since the event's inception after being moved from Tullamore.
The weekend will kick off on Friday, November 10 with a tour to Grennan Mills in Rath with the official opening at the square in Birr at 7pm. Saturday sees a day of interviews and up stage interviews and The Whistling Donkeys on stage in the Big Top.On Sunday evening there will be a banquet and the winner of the festival will be announced followed by some live music.
