Five Kilcormac childcare staff celebrate over 100 years of service

Five staff members celebrated over 100 years combined service at Kilcormac Community Childcare Playschool (KCC) and Afterschool this week.

KCC was established as a community childcare facility in 2000 and Mary Spain, Mary Murray, Mary Kiely, Yvonne Coyne and Paula Tooher are the longest staff members.

In acknowledging the five staff members, the board pointed out that they all go over and beyond their daily duties and have become the face of KCC in the Community.

Between them they have worked across a number of different services including a playschool, afterschool, summer camps and more recently, a breakfast club.

The staff also oversaw a move from a rented facility in St Joseph’s Community Centre to a purpose-built childcare facility. Then in 2018, the afterschool moved to the old Boys National School on Ballyboy Road.

There are currently exciting plans by Kilcormac Community Childcare to establish a creche and planning has currently been lodged.

Everyone in Kilcormac wishes the three Marys, Paula and Yvonne many more years at KCC.
