Lough Boora to host Santa Dash 5k race
Ferbane Athletic Club and Lough Boora Running Group have organised a Santa Dash 5k race which will be held on Sunday week, December 10.
The race, in aid of Feileacáin, will take place in Lough Boora Discovery Park, starting at 11am.
The chip timed race, which is Athletics Ireland registered, is ideal for runners or walkers who want to tackle the 5km distance on a flat course.
There is also a 1k family walk for those who would prefer a shorter stroll in this idyllic setting. Santa will arrive in his sleigh with treats for the kids and light refreshments for all will be provided after in Teach Lea Community Centre (eircode R35 DA50). This year the proceeds of the race are being donated to a very worthy cause in Feileacáin.
Feileacáin was formed by a group of bereaved parents to offer support to anyone affected by the death of a baby around the time of birth. The organisation is now the national charity supporting families affected by perinatal loss.
Feileacáin is a volunteer led organisation and relies solely on the support of community and the families who avail of their services. The organisers of the event are thankful to Midlands 103 and all sponsors for supporting the event.
Adult entry is €15 with a family entry costing €25. Online booking is strongly encouraged though there is limited ‘in person’ registration open on the day. Event organisers are urging people to come out on the day to support and are looking forward to seeing a large turnout.
