Dylan and Molly loving the snow in Vancouver

Dylan Murray and Molly Darcy are both from Kilcormac and are currently living in Vancouver in Canada.

Dylan admits that, while life is “very different” and they are still trying to get used to the weather and the time zones, they are really enjoying all the new experiences.

“We were considering a move to Canada for a while, 'Will we, Won't we', but here we are,” he says, “and definitely the hardest thing about being here is being away from our families, not being able to get into the car and drive to them is extremely hard.”

Another aspect of life in their new surroundings that they are finding it hard to adjust to is the time zone, which Dylan admits is “so different” as Vancouver is eight hours behind Ireland!

"We are still trying to adjust to the new norm out here, but we have met a few people from Offaly and everyone we have met so far has made us feel so welcome.”

The biggest difference about spending Christmas in Vancouver and Kilcormac is the weather, and both Dylan and Molly are loving the snow. “It’s snowing here which we both love, we barely get any in Ireland so it’s nice to see it properly, and we’ve also been to a lot of ice hockey games which there isn’t in Ireland and we are really enjoying them too.”

Family means a lot to the young Kilcormac couple and their best memories about Christmas at home centre around spending time with each other and with each other's families. “There is nothing better,” says Dylan.

The build-up to Christmas in Vancouver was “amazing” according to Dylan Murray. “The streets were mad, with everyone doing Christmas shopping and it's great to see so many people, everyone is so laid back over here as well and seeing the snow fall, it's all amazing, to be honest.”

Dylan and Molly are moving into their new apartment on New Year's Day and while they are still trying to adapt to life in such a different environment they say “we'll get there eventually.”

Molly would like to send greetings to her Mam, her Dad John, her two sisters, Caóimhe and Gráinne, and all her extended family and friends, while Dylan would like to send his best wishes to his Mam Mary, Fin, his little sister Megan, and “of course, the star of the show, my Nanny Frances, we miss you all so much and can't wait to see ye,” he says.
