Anxiety is most commonly reported mental health issue for people of Offaly

Turn2Me, a national mental health charity, has stated that anxiety was the most commonly reported mental health issue on its platform for people living in Offaly in 2023. The charity helped over 10,000 adults last year and the three most commonly reported issues were anxiety, depression, and relationship issues.

“Anxiety can come from many different life pressures,” said the CEO of Turn2Me, Fiona O'Malley. “It comes from job pressures, exam stress, and family tensions to name a few. We’re seeing a huge increase in the number of people talking about climate anxiety, which is understandable given the flooding, rising sea levels and coastal erosion we're seeing at a global and national level.”

The charity has helped over 130,000 people living in Ireland since 2009. Turn2Me offers up to six free one-to-one counselling sessions to adults living in Ireland and unlimited free support groups on anxiety, grief, depression and relationship issues, all available on Turn2Me.ie.
