Tullamore business wins award for top electric vehicle dealership

Fitzpatrick's Hyundai in Tullamore was today (Tuesday) named as the Offaly winner of an Electric Vehicle 'Dealership of the Year' awards event.

Zero Vehicles Emissions Ireland (ZEVI) and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) today announced the county winners of ZEVI’s EV Dealership of the Year Awards 2024.

Now in their third year, these awards recognise and reward excellence in the promotion and sale of electric vehicles (EVs) in Ireland.

Fitzpatrick's Hyundai Tullamore was announced as Offaly's winner of a competition, which drew participation from 134 car dealerships in 23 counties.

Funded by ZEVI, these SEAI-administered awards recognise dealerships working to build consumer understanding and experience of EVs and ultimately their roll-out on Irish roads.

The winners announced today are on the shortlist for the regional awards which will be announced at this year’s Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) Annual Dinner taking place on February 22 next.

One of the four regional winners will then be announced the overall national winner at the SEAI Energy Show taking place in the RDS, Dublin on March 20 and 21.

Commenting on today's announcement, Declan Meally, Director of Business, Public Sector and Transport at SEAI, said: "I want to congratulate this year's county award winners, with extremely high standards demonstrated by all competing dealerships.

"It is inspiring to see the continued commitment to reducing emissions on our roads, helping Ireland to achieve a cleaner, more efficient transport future. It is great to see a significant increase not only in EV sales, but in participation in the 2024 awards.

"SEAI recognises that car dealerships and their staff are a key enabler of EV uptake and is delighted to reward excellence in the field."

The O'Brien Motor Group was named as the EV Dealership of the Year in Westmeath, while Joe Mallon Motors, of Portlaoise, claimed the award in Laois.
