New office and community room open to public in Cloghan

Cloghan Community Development Association (CCDA) recently opened a new office and community room in the old Co-Op building entry beside Kabana.

CCDA said they set up this facility to encourage community development and involvement in the local area. The facility located at R42 AY15 is open to all for any local event.

The association is aiming to build up community activities various groups and individuals involved. In the longer term they hope that this will develop into a larger premises which will allow them to cater for more events. CCDA also hope to develop and facilitate local businesses, with training and development programmes.

TUS and LEADER also helped CCDA set up the project. Their programme for this month includes a pop-up shop selling clothes for Vincents, formerly SVP. There will be a tea/coffee stall in operation on the day. This will take place on Sunday, January 28 from 10am to 4pm in the premises at the COOP.

Next month, a Craft and Food Market will take place on Sunday, February 25 from 10am to 4pm. CCDA we would like to invite anyone interested in joining the Community group to call to their office or contact them on our social media channels. The association's AGM will be held on Tuesday, March 5 at 9pm and all are welcome.

A tea/coffee tea morning takes place every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 10am to 12pm in the new community room.

The new office is available for the following services: Any online applications or requirements; CV preparation and processing; Photocopying and scanning and Secretarial Services. CCDA opened the facility at the beginning of January and to date have the following programmes offering yoga, chair yoga, craft group, zumba classes, social tea and coffee mornings and Sunday morning walks by Cloghan Lake.

Discussions are currently being held to determine future activities such as music and dance classes, language classes, computer classes and mother and toddler groups. CCDA are open to suggestions from the public as to what they would avail of if it was provided. They are hoping to introduce further events and activities to the Cloghan area, to minimize the need for travel. The association would like to thank the people who have availed of their coffee mornings to date.
