Banagher fundraiser benefits Offaly School of Special Education

A Banagher business has raised €700 for the Offaly School of Special Education in Kilcruttin Business Park in Tullamore.

Aoibheann Buckley, who is a pupil in the co-educational school for those with a moderate or severe/profound learning disability aged between 4 and 18, recently presented a cheque to principal Ed Graham.

Aoibheann is the daughter of local businessman Neal Buckley, owner of Midland Boxercise Gym & Fitness Studio in Banagher, who recently organised a fundraiser supported by his members and local business The Little Coffee Company, where a total of €700 was raised.

Gym member Ciaran Flannery had the honour of choosing the charity to benefit from the fundraising and he opted for Offaly School of Special Education.

Like all funds raised that the school receives, this sum is earmarked for the provision of therapeutic, recreational play activities and resources and services such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, behavioural therapy, physiotherapy, social work and psychology.

On behalf of the forty-two pupils who attend Offaly’s only dedicated special school covering the whole county, the board of management and staff expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the Banagher fundraiser.
