Kilcormac marks 40th anniversary with special parade

Kilcormac marked its 40th St Patrick's Day parade with another busy and exciting spectacle.

The parade originated from the Kilcormac Development Association committee and grew from those roots. Four original members remain involved and Seamus Barron, Tom Buckley, Cormac Talbot and Des Sweeney were thanked at the parade for their dedication to the community.

The 2024 event was led off by a banner which had been designed for the first parade by the late Mary Lee and was originally carried by Seamus Barron, the late Tom Feighery and the late Lord Mayoress Attracta Dooley.

For the 40th parade, Seamus Barron, Tom Feighery (Jnr) representing Tom Feighery and his mother-in-law Mary Lee and Attracta Dooley (Jnr) representing her mother carried the banner in a fitting start to the parade.

The judges for the parade were Michelle Coleman, daughter of former MC, Joe, and Sonya Cuddy.

The parade was supported by main sponsor Bord na Mona and other sponsors including Kilcormac Development Association, Tullamore/Kilcormac Credit Union, Kellys, Corbys and Graceland pubs, Kelly’s Garage, Brian Newton and the Kilcormac Community Childcare.
