Birr secondary students visit TUS campus for food studies workshop

Last Thursday (March 21) was World Home Economics Day, and students from St Brendan's Community School in Birr marked the occasion by taking part in a food studies workshop on the TUS Athlone campus.

The Department of Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure in TUS hosted the workshop, which was attended by teacher Clódagh Boland and students from the Home Economics Department at the Offaly school.

The Birr students' visit coincided with World Home Economics Day on Thursday.

Ms Boland said the day provided a fantastic opportunity for the local students to experience the work taking place in the region's technological university.
