Community First Responders now covering Daingean

There was a great response to the request for volunteers to train as First Responders in the Daingean area. Seven people have recently been trained and a few more are hoping to join in the near future.

The Daingean Community First Responders are an extension of the Edenderry CFR area. Edenderry CFR group organised and provided training and continues to provide ongoing training and support to the Daingean gcroup.

The role of the first responder is assisting National Ambulance Service calls relating to cardiac arrest, chest pain, stroke or choking in the community. As First Responders live or work in the area they can be with the patient within minutes (if they are available to attend) and they can assist the person while awaiting the arrival of the emergency ambulance, often providing life saving intervention.

If anyone has any queries or would like to become involved please contact Mairead on 085 8662564. Daingean Community Defibrillator group will continue to deliver CPR & AED training and ensure the defibrillators in Daingean are in working order. Courses will be advertised shortly.
