Cowen calls for later train services for region

Barry Cowen, Fianna Fáil European Election Candidate in the Midlands North West, has called for later train services to be added in Offaly and Westmeath.

Deputy Cowen has contacted Fianna Fáil Minister of State in Department of Transport, Jack Chambers, to request additional evening train times from Dublin to serve commuters in Tullamore, Clara and Athlone.

Deputy Cowen said: "In recent days, local commuters and the Chamber of Commerce in Offaly have reached out requesting action on evening train times.

"Currently, the last train leaving Dublin Heuston serving Tullamore, Clara and Athlone is 7.35pm. Additional later times should be added, to facilitate later working hours, shift work and indeed socialising.

"I have raised this with my party colleague Minister of State in Department of Transport, Jack Chambers and insisted the additional later train times be made available as soon as possible.

"This is a priority for communities across Offaly and the Midlands. I will continue to work on this issue."
