Race for CCFL title hots up

The race for the CCFL Senior Division is hotting up with games coming thick and fast in the next ten days.

Two of the leading contenders Willow Park and Mullingar Town played out a draw in Dalton Park on Sunday, whilst St Peter's laid down a strong warning to the rest of the division with a decisive 6-1 away win to Birr Town.

Willow Park top the table at present, but St Peter's, Mullingar Town and Clara Town all have games in hand, with all four teams in contention for the title.

Key games are coming up over the coming week, with two of those chasing the title, Mullingar Town and St Peter's, due to meet this Wednesday in Mullingar (kick off 7pm).

Mullingar Town will then travel to reigning champions Clara Town on Sunday, at 2pm, whilst Willow Park host Gallen United.

Then the following Wednesday, there's the clash of the two Athlone teams, as St Peter's are at home to Willow Park, in another crucial fixture, whilst the same evening Mullingar Town are home to Ballinahown, who are mathematically still in the running also.

The picture should be much clearer after those run of games.
