Ciarán is highly commended in Oireachtas essay competition

Ciarán Crowley, 6th Year student at Coláiste Choilm, Tullamore, receives his Highly Commended Award in the Oireachtas Essay Competition from competition convenor Senator Rónán Mullen.

Also in the picture are Ciarán’s English teacher, Alexandria Farrell, and School Principal Tadhg O’Sullivan. The Oireachtas Essay competition was established to promote engagement by secondary students with the political system.

The competition which is sponsored by publishers Eason and schoolbook suppliers Folens and CJ Fallon, is organised on a 32 county basis and invites students to submit essays in Irish or English. Ciarán’s winning essay was on the theme ‘Parliamentary Politics Matters for Peace’.
