O’Meara: a candidate "of great integrity"

Independent candidate Jonathan O’Meara launched his local election campaign in the Long Room of the Crank House, Banagher last Friday evening. The Banagher-based business owner is bidding to win one of the six available council seats in the Birr/Ferbane local election area.

Speaking to a packed room, Mr O’Meara told the gathering that since his announcement to contest a seat almost 16 months ago, he along with Independent TD for Laois/Offaly Carol Nolan have made representation and engaged with many community and resident groups right across West and South Offaly.

During the address to his supporters, Mr O’Meara said, “It is very clear from listening to these community groups there is a major disconnect between the powers to be and us the people they serve. We are all very proud of the towns and villages we grew up and live in but over the last decade or more, it is evident that a lot of these towns and villages have been left behind."

Mr O’Meara noted the reason he is running as an Independent is because he feels an independent candidate can best serve the needs of people, free from party politics and policies.

Laois/Offaly Independent TD Carol Nolan who is supporting Mr O’Meara’s campaign praised the Banagher man for putting his name forward to represent the concerns and needs of the people of West and South Offaly.

“Jonathan is a man of great integrity, commitment and determination who also has invaluable qualities of being a very successful businessman. Jonathan understands the needs of business; the challenges they face and he has a wealth of experience in this sector."
