Tullamore Harriers trio win silver at relay championships

A trio of Tullamore Harriers athletes claimed silver medals when competing in the 123.ie National Relay Championships last Sunday. Sisters Danielle and Nadine Donegan along with Niamh O'Connor secured seconnd place in the senior ladies' race.

A thrilling afternoon of athletics action is always on display at this particular event. It was hosted by Raheny Shamrock AC and took place on Wade’s Avenue in Raheny, with the athletes running one mile, then two miles and the third runner covering one mile again to finish the event.

The senior ladies race featured a high quality field with Dundrum South Dublin AC taking gold in 20.38. Next up were the Tullamore Harriers ladies who crossed the line in 20.43 and UCD took bronze in 20.45.

Niamh took on the first leg with Danielle taking the two-mile leg and Nadine took it home with the last mile.

Meanwhile, Tullamore Harriers had a strong showing at the Dubrovnik Half Marathon on Sunday last. As expected, the Croatian city of Dubrovnik had some challenging hills and the very humid temperatures put the athletes to a real test over the 13.1miles.

The Harriers ladies, along with spouses and friends, had great support among the huge entry of over 2700 participants from approximately 50 countries.

This squad has been training together over the past few months and, as always, the club is delighted to have blue and white of Tullamore Harriers on display far and wide. In addition, Tullamore Harriers was well represented in London on April 21 as Killian Nolan had a superb run in the London Marathon with a finishing time of 2.32.
