New principal appointed at Coláiste Naomh Cormac in Kilcormac

The appointment of Victoria Guinan as the new principal of Coláiste Naomh Cormac, Kilcormac, has been announced by Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board (LOETB).

Victoria has been the acting principal in Coláiste Naomh Cormac since the beginning of this year.

She had been deputy principal Coláiste Naomh Cormac since 1999, having previously been a teacher of History and Religion, as well as recently qualifying in Guidance Counselling.

LOETB said Victoria brings "a wealth of leadership experience and knowledge" to her new role in Coláiste Naomh Cormac.

"She has contributed significantly to the growth and development of the school and her considerable experience will help to further progress the school in the local community," it said.

"Coláiste Naomh Cormac has a long history of providing quality education to the children and young people of Kilcormac and the surrounding areas and Victoria has been central to this achievement for many years."

In congratulating Victoria on her appointment, LOETB’s Director of Schools, Linda Tynan said: "I look forward to continuing to work with Victoria in her new role.

"She has always prioritised exceptional learning experiences, with high levels of care and support for all of her students.

"The school has experienced consistent growth in recent years and I know it will continue to thrive and flourish under her leadership, ensuring that all students have the opportunities and guidance to fulfil their potential."

Joe Cunningham, Chief Executive at LOETB, also congratulated Victoria on her appointment.

He said: "Victoria has been dedicated to ensuring educational excellence for all since her first appointment as a History and Religion teacher in Coláiste Naomh Cormac.

"Her commitment and vision for the ongoing success of the school has been very evident in her previous role as Deputy Principal. She has contributed significantly to the ethos of supporting every child to strive for excellence.

"I wish her well as she continues to lead the staff and students while working with all of the stakeholders in the school community."

Colaiste Naomh Cormac has recently been selected as part of the Schools Energy Pathfinder Programme 2024 Design & Build Programme.

This means the school will be benefiting from considerable energy retrofit improvements in the very near future.

This programme will have a significant positive impact on the entire school building and will further support the current excellent learning environment in Colaiste Naomh Cormac.

Coláiste Naomh Cormac, Kilcormac is one of nine post primary schools under the patronage of LOETB, the largest education and training provider in Laois and Offaly.
