Service users of RehabCare in Tullamore, who deliver the Offaly Independent weekly to cafés, hospitality and retail outlets throughout Tullamore, Clara, Birr and Edenderry were recognised at a ceremony in Tullamore recently.
RehabCare service users have been assisting in the distribution of this paper for over ten years, with the support of staff of RehabCare in Offaly.
The service users receive training, after risk assessments are carried out, and carry out the distribution under the supervision of staff members.
Frank Mulrennan, Chief Executive of Celtic Media Group, the owners of Offaly Independent, was on hand at the event in the RehabCare premises in the Tanyard, Tullamore, recently to acknowledge the work of the service users and to make presentations to each of the service users. He was joined by Shane O'Neill, Sales, Offaly Independent.
RehabCare says the commitment is part of the overall programme of training provided to service users in Offaly.
