McCormack given FF spokesperson portfolio
Fianna Fáil has appointed Offaly TD Tony McCormack as its Spokesperson on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Retail.
Deputy McCormack brings a strong track record in business and enterprise to this role. He began his career as an entrepreneur in his early twenties, opening The Nook and Cranny restaurant in Tullamore.
He went on to expand into mobile phone retail through the CellularWorld franchise, establishing outlets in Tullamore, Kilkenny, and Limerick. He later founded Print Plus, a print and design business based in Tullamore.
In addition to his hands-on experience in business, Deputy McCormack holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and has been an active voice for enterprise through his leadership in business organisations. He served as President of the Tullamore Chamber of Commerce and as Chairperson of the Midlands Gateway Chamber, where he championed the needs and growth of local businesses across the region.
Speaking about his appointment, Deputy McCormack said: "I’m honoured to take on the role of Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on SMEs and Retail. As someone who has built and managed businesses from the ground up, I understand the challenges that small business owners face – from accessing finance to navigating regulation and managing day-to-day operations. SMEs are the backbone of the Irish economy and vital to the life of our towns and communities. I will work hard to ensure they have the support and policy environment they need to thrive."
In his new role, Deputy McCormack will work to promote the interests of SMEs and the retail sector, both regionally and nationally, ensuring that the voice of enterprise is central to Fianna Fáil’s policy agenda.
