Offaly duo dance in France for 25th twinning anniversary

Tullamore duo Emma Coughlan and Niamh Chambers recently travelled to France for the 25th anniversary of the twinning of Penvanon and Castlecomer.

The Sacred Heart School students joined Burbage Irish Dance Academy, guided by teachers Kara and Sean, as part of the Soirée Irlandaise celebrations over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Together with Burbage Irish Dance Academy, the girls performed in a series of events that showcased Irish culture—including elements inspired by Riverdance.

The celebration event also featured an Irish Evening Meal, as well as Irish musicians.

The Penvénan Castlecomer Twinning Committee is the association dedicated to promoting Irish culture in Penvénan and organizing all types of exchanges with the town of Castlecomer in Ireland.

Previous events included sports exchanges (judo, football, athletics, cycling) and cultural exchanges (photography, paintings, books).
